Capture what you need
The visible area, a selection, a single element of the page or the whole page, even after a few seconds of delay. With a switch for web apps that scroll inside an inner section. Or open an image you already have.
Picantex is a Chrome extension for screenshots that have to explain something: capture a page or open a PDF, mark what matters, hide what should not be seen, and save. Everything happens on your computer.
Add to Chrome
The visible area, a selection, a single element of the page or the whole page, even after a few seconds of delay. With a switch for web apps that scroll inside an inner section. Or open an image you already have.
Choose a PDF from your computer, or open in Picantex the one shown in a tab. Pick the pages to annotate or to add to the document, with their real text. Password-protected PDFs open too.
Rectangles, circles, lines, arrows, freehand pen, speech bubbles and numbered steps, in the colour and thickness you choose. Steps can have sub-steps (1.1, 1.2) and show letters, Roman numerals, symbols or your own text. Copy and paste every mark, also from one capture to another.
Write on the image and choose colour, size, bold and italic.
Highlight a line as with a marker, or hide data with blur, pixels or a solid cover.
Rub out what you do not need, keep only the part that matters, and zoom the image without shrinking the controls.
Drag over an area of the capture and get the text of the page itself, not a guess from the image. Tables keep their columns.
In the PDFs you save, the real text of the page lies invisibly over the image: you can search it and copy it. Text you covered or blurred is left out.
Gather several captures, or images you already have, reorder them and make a single PDF, at original size or on A4 sheets. Reopen a page in the editor and it is updated in place.
A PDF or an image opened directly in Chrome can only be photographed: Picantex offers to open it instead, the PDF with every page and its text, the image at full resolution.
PNG, JPEG or PDF, in the folder you choose, or copy the image straight to the clipboard.
Print a capture or the whole document on A4 sheets: long pages continue on the next sheet, cut between lines of text.
When you need them: the SHA-256 fingerprint of every file you save, to prove later that it has not changed, and a stamp with the address of the page and the date and time of capture. Off until you turn them on.
Available in English, Italian and Spanish.
